Shear loads-1

When part of a structure transfers the load by shearing, it acts as a shell, which is

able:see section on page 156.  However, there is a risk of shear buckling in the case of

thin walled shells. The load-carrying capacity will then be reduced in a similar way as

for buckling under compressive loading.
