ABSTRACT
The article presents a test of the efficiency of using one-sided welding with steel box girders fabricated using ceramic backing and flux cored arc welding with CO2 shielding (FCAW-G) for bridge construction to span the Xinxiang Wei river in China. The welding process test uses the real welding material and plate thickness and simulates the environment. It concludes that the use of one-sided welding with FCAW-G, CO2 shielding makes weld formation smooth and compact.
In this study it has been aimed to investigate the optimum friction stir spot welding (FSSW) parameters for EN AW -- 5005 aluminium alloy plates. The interactions of welding parameters affecting welding performance of FSSW joints were determined. According to the results of the experimental study it have been determined that FSSW tool penetration parameter has the most significant effect on spot welding joints. The shear strength of FSSW joints was observed to increase as the tool penetration depth increased. The results of the experimental study showed that the optimum welding parameters levels for FSSW were 2,6 mm tool penetration depth, 1500 rev/min tool rotation and 10 s welding time.
